James hails from England, where he learned his horsemanship skills from both Pony Club and his family. He emigrated to Canada at age 13, and spent his youth riding competitively.
He and his horse, The Revisionist, represented Canada twice - at the World Equestrian Games and the Pan American Games, and competed twice at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. James has experience at the highest levels of Eventing on numerous horses, currently on Carolyn and Robin Hoffos' horse Gustav.
When not riding, James works on designing and building cross-country courses throughout California and the Western United States, including a yearly trip to North Carolina
Trainer Taren Atkinson
Taren grew up riding in Pony Club in Southern California, and has competed at the Preliminary level since she was 13. Since then, she has continued to train with many different instructors throughout California, earning success at the Preliminary level on multiple horses.
She started Limerick Equestrian to share her love of the sport with others, and was extremely happy to welcome James into the program as both her coach and her co-trainer. She currently competes her horse, Limerick II, at the Intermediate level, and has a few younger prospects coming up the levels closely behind. Taren is an ICP level I certified instructor.
James and Taren live in Ramona with their two dogs, and travel extensively to horse shows throughout the country.
