  • TRAINERS
    Copper Meadows is a training facility, every rider must be under the supervision of a trainer.
    We have two excellent trainers on site:
    Jennifer Wooten with Trinity Farms 805-588-7600
    Sarah Vandenberg with Briarwood Riding School contact Nancy at 619-685-7531
    Both trainers offer lessons for those who own their own horses and both have lesson horses for those needing mounts. The trainers operate their own lesson programs and must be contacted separately to schedule lessons.

  • Off site trainers can teach at Copper Meadows with one or more of the criteria below:
    Each trainer must have a certificate of Insurance including Copper Meadows as an additionally insured
    Be a current member in good standing with USEA and USEF.
    With a show record that can be accessed via the web-site at USEA
    A graduate of the ICP program at least completing a level 2 status
    A graduate “A” Pony Clubber

  • CLINICS
  • There are several clinics scheduled throughout the year. These are opportunities to expand your riding experiences and to learn. Everyone is welcome at any level to these clinics.
  • Cross-Country clinics: these are group lessons at a reduced rate to give riders and horses experience out on the cross-country field. Call to make a reservation: 760-788-7702
    Balanced Riding Clinics: These clinics combine stadium and cross-country riding and are taught by Jennifer Wooten contact Jennifer at 805-588-4600
    Briarwood Riding Clinics: These clinics combine stadium and cross-country riding and are taught by Sarah Vandenberg contact Nancy at 619-685-7531
    Brian Sabo Clinics: These are private lessons given by Brian Sabo contact Nancy at 619-685-7531

  • FULL PHASE ONE- DAY SHOWS
  • These full phase shows are just that, they include all three phases of Eventing, Dressage, Stadium jumping and Cross-Country jumping for a combined score. This format is geared for improving skills working on problems, moving a horse and rider pair up a level, and introducing the new horse or new rider to the sport of Eventing. We offer the Elementary level for the beginner rider or young horse. This level offers all obsticals under two feet. Other divisions offered are Beginner Novice, Novice, Training and Preliminary. (preliminary riders must call to inform C.M. of their wish to compete, otherwise we will not include this level)
  • To enter a Full Phase One-Day Show:
  • Check the web-site for up to date information such as rain delays etc…
    No pre registration needed.
    Office opens at 7:00 a.m. day of the show. And all rides are first come first served
    All levels can compete at the same time

    Dressage is the first phase of the competition and the first ride in the dressage ring begins at 8:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm, you must sign up for a dressage ride time. These are scheduled 8 minutes apart. Be on time to your scheduled ride time, if you miss your dressage ride there is no guarantee that we will be able to reschedule the ride!
    Stadium arena opens at 10:00 am and closes at 3:30 pm, and is run on the “Open Gate” format
    Open gate format: check in with the ring steward when you are ready to ride your stadium round and they will schedule your ride. It is up to the rider to ride their round within the time the ring is open 10-3:30
    The format of this show is designed to use your stadium round as your warm up for Cross-Country.
    Cross Country is also run on an open gate format
    Cross-Country course opens from 10:30 to 4:00
    It is up to the rider to complete their ride within the allotted time frame.
  • The lowest number of penalty point wins each division. Prizes for 1st place and ribbons to 4th place. All prizes and ribbons awarded after the last ride of the day. We reserve the right to condense the open gate times depending on number of riders, please pay attention to announcements. All prizes and ribbons must be picked up on the day of the show, we will not hold prizes and or ribbons or mail them. All divisions must have at least 3 riders in them to be awarded prizes or ribbons.

  • HUNTER- JUMPER SERIES
  • This is a new addition to Copper Meadows show series. We are offering a Hunter ring and a Jumper ring. Please check the class lists for times and classes offered. We are very excited to have a Mini Grand Prix for prize money!
  • Hunter Jumper shows need no pre-registration
    Office opens and 7:00 the day of the show

    All classes run on an “open gate” format
    Open Gate Format: classes are given a time that the ring is open. Ex: 8:00-9:00 the rider is responsible to complete their ride with in that allotted time frame. Be aware that if everyone waits until 8:50 to ride their round the ring will still close at 9:00 and you may not be able to complete your round in the time allotted. Don’t wait until the end!
    Each class will be given prizes for 1st and ribbons to 4th place at the end of each class. Ribbons and prizes will be at the show office 1 hour after class has ended.

  • JACK POT EVENT SHOW
  • Another new addition to the calendar for 2008! We are trying to encourage other disciplines to join us here at Copper Meadows. These fun day shows will have a gamblers choice jumping arena for ½ the entry fee prize money! And a western discipline ring, that will change with each show. We hope to have trail riding, barrel racing, and other classes to bring English and Western riders together for a day of fun.

  • WEDNESDAY GROUP LESSONS
  • A group lesson for all riders of all levels to come to Copper Meadows and learn exactly what we do here…
    These lessons are held each Wednesday evening from 4:30 to 5:30
  • Every rider must wear a helmet
    Lessons offered at a reduced rate of $25.00 with trainers reducing their fees and Copper Meadows waiving their trailer on fee of $15.00 to encourage people to join us.
